Chiara Totire: The Vacanza Edit

On the occasion of our exclusive Chapters pop-up event in Puglia, we had the pleasure of hosting a special VIC styling session with Chiara Totire — internationally celebrated stylist and fashion consultant.

Originally from Bari in Puglia, Chiara chose to leave behind the family business to embrace her passion for fashion, quickly establishing herself as one of the industry's most influential figures. After moving to Milan, she collaborated closely with Anna Dello Russo and has spent over a decade contributing to Vogue Japan, collaborating with prestigious international magazines and luxury fashion houses such as Chanel and Dior. Her distinctive aesthetic has made a significant impact both on the runway and on the streets of Tokyo, Paris, and Milan.

In perfect harmony with our first thematic chapter, "Vacanza," Chiara's style effortlessly captures the golden warmth of Puglia, the sparkling Mediterranean air, and the carefree spirit of boundless summer days. We asked Chiara to select outfits from our assortment that perfectly capture specific moments of the Estate Italiana. She identified six looks tailored for enjoying the best of Puglia during this vibrant season.

Here, Chiara shares what summer, vacation, and her deep connection to Puglia truly mean to her, explored through a curated selection of outfits.
Q: What does summer represent for you, and how does it relate to your homeland, Puglia?

A: I can't think of summer without thinking of Puglia, nor can I think of Puglia without the thought of summer crossing my mind. Its winds, sometimes warm and sometimes cool, the sea that fills your eyes and leaves a salty trace on your skin, its flavors that nourish the body and soothe the soul. Puglia, for me, is home. With this feeling in mind, I chose to celebrate it through my personal interpretation: selecting a few pieces that express everything home and summer mean to me.

Q: How would you describe Look 1, and where would you imagine wearing it?

A: It's an ironic yet sophisticated look, ideal for exploring museums, galleries, or the historic streets of cities like Lecce or Martina Franca. The outfit plays with artistic prints and eccentric touches, like the jeweled bathing cap—perfect for those who appreciate art even in fashion.

Q: This ensemble seems both relaxed and elegant. What inspired you here?

A: Look 2 is an homage to the effortless elegance of summer vacations. The shirt-dress is versatile and comfortable, while the accessories reflect meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship. Ideal for brunch in Cisternino or a leisurely walk among Ostuni’s iconic whitewashed houses.

Q: Tell us more about the colors and mood of this Look 3.

A: The colors evoke the Apulian sky at sunset, creating an outfit that’s lightweight yet impactful. Warm and cool tones merge like an evening breeze. The accessories emphasize the bohemian side of the look, perfect for a seaside dinner or a terrace party.

Q: Why did you choose this specific combination?

A: Refined yet relaxed, perfect for an aperitivo by the sea as the sun begins to set. The flowing, enveloping dress recalls the warm earthy tones of Puglia, while woven accessories evoke local craftsmanship. The essential sandal underscores elegant simplicity.

Q: Finally, tell us what inspired your choice for this seaside final look?

A: Look 6 speaks of warm sand, straw umbrellas, and long swims. The swimsuit is playful yet chic, while accessories crafted from natural materials narrate a perfect beach day, balancing functionality and style effortlessly.
